Resources for research in the Caribbean, data, and information about arachnids

CarBio Data
Publications from the project are listed on this website under ´publications´ and most can be found in PDF form on theridiidae.com.
All specimens (over 100.000), frozen tissue, and DNA are intended for public use and have been donated to the Smithsonian Institution (contact [email protected] or [email protected]). These are currently (2024) being incorporated into the collection and divided into frozen tissue vs ´warm´ voucher specimens, and all available DNA extracts are stored frozen. While many specimens and DNA materials are already on loan to various researchers, the slow process of incorporating this large and logistically complex collection into the museum holdings may cause delays in obtaining loans.
Molecular sequence data nearing 10.000 sequences has been submitted to GenBank and BOLD. Published data accession numbers can be found in various CarBio publications. Further ´unpublished´ sequences have been uploaded for public use (under GenBank bioproject PRJNA909800, BOLD project not yet published)-- see list for summary.
CarBio database - a draft ´flat´ database of the project is currently being updated and prepared for transition to a relational online database. A ´provided as is´ earlier draft version of the flat file can be downloaded here.
New species from this project are presented in numerous publications, readily found in the WorldSpiderCatalog and Zoobank.
Work is ongoing in making available further data from the project.

Primers for arachnid phylogenetics
This is a list of primers that have been used in spider phylogenetics. The list is not comprehensive, but we aim to include the most commonly used primers, in addition to some that have been developed recently.
